Level I

Level 1 is the first semester of the Elementary Education program. Students begin field placement
experiences focused on literacy and mathematics.

Level I Courses

Four to six courses are taken within the cohort depending on your plan of study.

  • ELED 412 Methods/Materials of Literacy in Primary Grades (1-3)
  • ELED 413 Internship in Primary Literacy
  • MATH 323 Teaching Mathematics in the Elementary School
  • MATH 324 Mathematics Placement in an Elementary Classroom
  • ISTC 301 Utilization of Instructional Media
  • ARED 371 Art of the Child OR MUED 305 Methods of Teaching Music in Elementary Schools
