Art Adjunct Faculty Employment

The Department of Art + Design, Art History and Art Education within the College of Fine Arts and Communication is looking to expand its pool of adjunct faculty. 

Adjunct appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis. We offer programs in various disciplines, including:

  • Art History; Art Education
  • Ceramics
  • Digital Art + Design
  • Drawing
  • Foundations
  • Graphic Design; Illustration
  • Interdisciplinary Object Design
  • Metalsmithing + Jewelry
  • Museum Studies
  • Painting; Printmaking
  • Photography
  • Sculpture

Responsibilities and Duties

  • teach assigned class material in accordance with learning goals
  • provide core instruction to satisfy primary learning objectives of course
  • assess and grade students’ work in a timely and professional manner
  • comply with departmental requirements

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates will need to demonstrate expertise in area’s medium/field with a broad knowledge of traditional and contemporary materials, processes, techniques and theories. Having a comprehensive knowledge of equipment usage and studio safety practices, if applicable, is required. Additional qualifications are as follows:

  • master’s preferred (bachelor’s degree and/or extensive experience in related field considered)
  • detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal and time management skills 
  • ability to work with students,
  • self-motivated problem solver and professional demeanor

Salary and Benefits 

Adjuncts teaching 3 credits (4 contact hours) for studio art classes will be compensated $5,332 and 3 credits (3 contact hours) for non studio art classes for $4,000. Supervising pre-service art teachers (5 contact hours) will be compensated $6,665.

Contracts are for one semester, renewable upon availability of classes and satisfactory job performance.
